In Motion: Movement and Music

In Motion Clipart 1.png

IN MOTION is a participatory arts experience that blends music, movement, and creative expression in ways that are responsive and engaging for all abilities. Whether in a one-on-one session or a small group, participants are invited to become active creators—moving, listening, and expressing through the language of the body.

Led by teaching artist Ms. Bhawna Sudhir (Ms. B), each class draws from Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), Therapeutic Dance in Education, and the rich rhythms of South Asian music and culture. The process is not about perfect dance steps—it’s about how the body can think, feel, and communicate through motion. Participants use familiar gestures, spatial awareness, and music to make sense of their emotions and connect more deeply with themselves and others.

Activities are designed to support self-awareness, focus, and joy while gently building expressive skills, coordination, and presence. Whether online or in-person, IN MOTION is always individually tailored, interactive, and grounded in the belief that everyone can move and create in their own meaningful way.

Draw, Write, and Tell

Drw Paint Express Clipart 2.png

A gentle and playful class where creativity leads the way. In “Draw, Write, and Tell,” participants use drawing, painting, and simple writing to create their own original stories—no matter their verbal ability. These creations then become the starting point for expression through voice, gesture, movement, or performance.

Each session supports participants in exploring their thoughts and feelings visually first, then bringing them to life in a way that works best for them—through narration, role-play, facial expression, or guided storytelling. For non-verbal participants, this might mean expressive gestures or pointing to images. For verbal participants, it may include reading aloud, acting, or sharing personal reflections.

This class encourages confidence, communication, and self-awareness while helping participants shape their creative work into a performance-based outcome. Led by teaching artist Ms. Bhawna Sudhir (Ms. B), sessions are responsive, inclusive, and focused on supporting each individual’s expressive journey—one image, word, or gesture at a time.

Bollywood Style: Dance the Story

Experience the joy, rhythm, and expression of Bollywood through movement that tells a story. This class invites participants to explore gesture, facial expression, rhythm, and body movement inspired by the colorful world of Indian cinema.

Rather than focusing on perfect technique, we focus on using the body—hands, feet, face, and posture—to express feelings, ideas, and imagination. Through storytelling choreography and musical play, participants engage in a lively, creative space where they can move with joy and express themselves freely.

This class nurtures creative confidence, builds a sense of presence, and encourages emotional expression. Whether seated or standing, every body and every voice is welcome. Sessions are thoughtfully guided and adapted to support individual comfort levels, abilities, and group energy—helping each person grow in their own unique way.

Goals in Action: Life Plan & IEP Support

IEP Class Clipart 1.png

This class is designed to creatively support participants working toward their Life Plan or IEP goals through arts-based activities that are personalized, adaptive, and engaging. Whether the focus is on communication, social interaction, emotional expression, or daily living skills, each session is shaped around the unique needs and strengths of the individual.

Participants engage in a wide range of activities—including movement, rhythm, storytelling, drawing, voice work, and guided expression—to practice real-world skills in a supportive and low-pressure environment. For non-verbal individuals, this might include using gesture, visuals, or sound-making to interact and express; for verbal participants, it may involve conversation, performance, or reflective sharing.

With care and creativity, teaching artist Ms. Bhawna Sudhir (Ms. B) guides each learner through experiences that blend structure with flexibility. Activities are adapted in real time to meet each person where they are, while gently encouraging growth, self-advocacy, and participation.

“Goals in Action” brings personal goals to life through joyful engagement—building skills not just for class, but for life beyond it.
